Making Mothers Day Cookies

Using Two Toning to Make Mother's Day Cookies

How to two -tone Mother's Day Cookies

Two-toning cookies is a simple decorating technique that creates beautiful depth and dimension using just two shades of icing. By pairing a lighter and darker tone of the same colour, you can instantly make floral details, lettering, and layered designs stand out. It’s an easy way to elevate your cookies, add a professional finish, and create eye-catching designs without complicated piping. Perfect for beginners and experienced decorators alike, two-toning is a small detail that makes a big impact.

What You’ll Need

• LissieLou 3D Cookie Stamp
• LissieLou Cookie Cutter
• Food Colouring (2-3 different colours) - we recommend Colour Mill
• LissieLou Edible Pen
• LissieLou Corn Flour Dusting Pouch
• LissieLou Mini Metal Scrapers

Step 1: Prepare your Different coloured fondants

Decide on the colour you want your cookie design to be and pre prepare your fondant. Using a LissieLou cornflour dusting pouch, dust cornflour across your cookie stamp. Adding cornflour is key to ensure the fondant does not stick to the stamp!

Step 2: Start building your layers

Take a small amount of coloured fondant and gently push it into one of the indents. The tip is to not use too much fondant at a time and ensure it doesn’t buldge out of the layer - less in more.

Keep going with each different colour you want by building layers.

Once you have completed all colour, ‘clean’ the edges of our stamp using our LissieLou mini metal scraper (or similar).

Step 3: Prepare your Base Fondant

Lay your stamp face down onto your base fondant. Push down on the all areas of the stamp.

Gently peel the stamp away from the fondant starting at the small tab.

Use your matching cutter to cut the same out. Give the cutter a small ‘wiggle’ to ensure a super clean cut.
